Countdown: day seven

One week ’til rapture.

What if the rapture already happened? What if the six or seven billion of us on earth are the ones who’ve been left behind? Didn’t the Bible state in Revelation that only 144,000 people would be “raptured”? That’s a pretty insignificant number of people considering the overall world population. This could have happened already with none of us realizing it.

Think of the four horsemen: conquest and war? We got ’em. Lots of that going on right now, as a matter of fact. Famine? 20,000 or so people (likely much, much more) die of hunger every day. Death? Read that last sentence again. Multiply it by however many other causes of death there are. That’s an awful lot of death.

Earthquakes? Floods? Tornadoes? Have you been watching the news lately?

Of course, I don’t believe any of this stuff has anything to do with what’s predicted in the Bible. Except, perhaps, the wars – many of which can be attributed to holy books and the belief that they are the inerrant word of the god they represent. But that’s a post for another day.

  1. An interesting proposal from you but my friend unfortunately you must do some more reading of the bible to understand the ins and outs of such a complex book (revelation)
The 144 k is in reference to a specific amount of jews that will be “saved” in the end of days, you see going way back into the old testement God promises to save this specific number of jews. (such a long and invovled history, reading the O.T maybe helpful)
Furthermore, there are many events leading upto the rapture which clearly have not yet occured- the one that stands to mind clearest for me is the coming of the antichrist ( who initially appears a man of peace) who will sign a 7 year treaty with isreal, this is specified in the book of Daniel. Many many, many more signs and “cues” to the rapture can be found in the book of revelation however, you are correct in your opinion that the rapture will be so quick it is almost unnoticable. Christ says he will “come quickly” (rev 22:12) and more refernces describe it as happening “in the blink of an eye” (1 cor. 15:52).
I understandthe lack of ability to comprehend the coming of such events, but read up and keep watch because i know that we should certainly not want to be left behind when Christ comes to take his people!
